What is a Soft Decline?

Soft declines are temporary authorization failures that may be successful after a subsequent attempt.
How Does a Soft Decline Work?
Soft declines happen because of some of the following reasons: insufficient funds; card activity limit exceeded; failures due to system, technical, or infrastructure issues; expired cards. Out of the total number of declines, 80% to 90% are soft declines.
